Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has confirmed that humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip faces logistical difficulties due to Israel, which is hindering implementation of the aid.
Shoukry explained that these difficulties involve the repeated bombing of the Palestinian side of the crossing, which places additional burdens on Egypt that greatly hinder the arrival of aid.
This came during the Foreign Minister’s meeting with the Executive Director of the World Food Program, Cindy McCain.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained that the meeting touched on the deteriorating conditions in the Gaza Strip and the increasing humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza in light of the continuing brunt of the war, who must be provided for urgently.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also reviewed Egypt’s tireless efforts to help the Palestinian people and deliver humanitarian aid.
This includes through the aid that Egypt provides to the Palestinian people directly or via the facilities it grants to the governments of other countries and various donors to ensure that the aid enters the besieged strip.
The official spokesperson concluded his statements by noting that the Executive Director of the program expressed full appreciation for the role played by Egypt in continuing to ensure the access of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and its coordination with international organizations.
McCain also expressed her desire for further coordination with Egypt to implement the programs and activities of the World Food Program in Egypt, done in line with Egypt’s vision towards achieving food security and sustainable development.
