Military seals off Tahrir Square after Sisi celebrations

Security troops closed on Monday Tahrir Square by razor wires, after citizens celebrating inauguration of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi left.

Several armored vehicles and soldiers were seen behind the wires. The platform that was set up for the celebrations near Mohamed Mahmoud street was removed.

Tahrir Square has been the focal point of protests since the 25 January revolution. The government has been especially strict since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsy on 3 July 2013, thwarting any attempts by anti-government groups to hold protests in the square by sealing off all entrances as well as access via the Sadat metro station.
