The Tourism and Antiquities Ministry issued a statement, on Saturday, answering claims spread on social media about stones falling off the Bent Pyramid of King Sneferu in the Dahshur area and its reinforcement with iron prop ups.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri said that these rumors are completely false and that the pyramid is safe and is visited normally.
He explained that the iron supports in the pyramid are not new, as the Engineering Department of the Supreme Council of Antiquities installed them in the northwest corner of the pyramid since May 2014 under the supervision of the archaeological area.
Waziri added that this came in order to preserve and support part of the pyramid as it is one of the most important tourist attractions in the archaeological area today.
He noted that the Bent Pyramid dates back to the way it was built during the reign of King Sneferu.
It was constructed out of stones with oblique angles relative to the ground estimated at about 55 degrees at the beginning, and due to its height, the engineer changed the angle of inclination to become 43 degrees, which led to distinctive appearance.
