Trial of 227 defendants in activist killing case adjourned

North Cairo Criminal Court has adjourned the trial of 227 defendants accused of killing Sayed Weza, an April 6th Movement activist, to June 6.

The trial has been adjourned following the request issued by the defendants' lawyers, who called during the Tuesday session for hearing all the witnesses listed in the case documents and for obtaining an official copy of the records of Abdien Police Station from the day of the incident. They also urged the court to summon the forensic doctors who examined the victims to court.

Six protesters were killed, including Weza, and 25 others were injured on the third anniversary of the 25 January revolution, during a protest outside the Journalists Syndicate in Cairo.

Among other charges, the defendants are accused of murder, illegal assembly, attempted  murder, destroying public property and disturbing public peace.
