Turkey top importer of natural gas from Egypt in Q1-2022: CAPMAS

Turkey topped the list of importers of natural gas from Egypt during the first quarter of 2022, as the value of Egypt’s exports to Turkey during this period amounted to $917.2 million, followed by Spain at $425.7 million, and Indonesia at $317.8 million, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced.

Egypt’s production of natural gas reached 16.6 million tons during the first four months of 2022, compared to 17.3 million tons during the corresponding period of 2021.

The local production of gas in 2022 recorded 4.4 million tons in January, 3.8 million tons in February, 4.3 million tons in March, and 4.1 million tons in April.

The volume of domestic consumption of natural gas decreased to 14.7 million tons during the first four months of 2022, compared to 15.3 million tons during the corresponding months of 2021, thus achieving a surplus in natural gas production of 1.9 million tons during the first four months of 2022, compared to 2 million tons during the corresponding months of 2021.

The total domestic production of crude oil, condensate and butane amounted to 9.5 million tons during the first four months of 2022, compared to 9.6 million tons during the corresponding months of 2021.

The volume of domestic consumption of other petroleum products recorded 11.081 million tons during the first four months of 2022, compared to 8.7 million tons during the corresponding months of 2021.

Egypt’s natural gas exports rose to US$2.8 billion during the first quarter of 2022, compared to $559.9 million during the same period in 2021, an increase of 406.5 percent.
