UN in Cairo warns of organization claiming affiliation

The United Nations’ office in Cairo has warned that some institutions are falsely claiming to be affiliated with the international organization.

A statement by the United Nations Information Center referred to “inaccurate and misleading news” which it said had been “circulated through several electronic as well all print media” about an organization claiming to be part of the UN while awarding Goodwill Ambassadors titles.

The statement said an organization called “the International Goodwill Club” does not have Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), nor is it associated with the Department of Public Information (DPI).

“It should immediately refrain from using the name of the United Nations,” the office stressed.
