Wafd Party and Brotherhood to run on unified candidacy list

The Waft Party and the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) have agreed to enter the upcoming parliamentary elections on a unified candidacy list, and have invited other parties to join them.

Wafd Party Vice President Bahaa Abu Shaqa said that his party approached the MB with the idea, while MB Secretary General Saad al-Katatny said that his group welcomed the suggestion.

In related news, the National Association for Change also met with the Muslim Brotherhood group on Saturday and agreed that the parliamentary elections should be conducted on a proportionate list basis. The two groups decided to form a committee to draft a law on elections, another to come up with basic principles for the constitution, and a third to coordinate among all political forces in the elections.
