Wasat Party members resign over alleged mismanagement

Fifteen members of the Wasat Party tendered their resignations on Wednesday, claiming party leaders were favoring wealthy and prominent members at the expense of ordinary ones.

They also said that party leaders had appointed their relatives to key positions within the party, and had expressed their own personal opinions, not the party’s general policies, when talking to the media.

Contending that many prominent personalities chose to leave the party due to undemocratic practices, they said the party has chosen to field Selim al-Awa in presidential elections even though he is more of a preacher than a politician.
