Iranian parliamentary delegation arrives in Cairo

An Iranian delegation arrived in Cairo on Monday for a two-day visit.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the chairman of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, will head the delegation, which will head on to Kuwait on Tuesday.

The visit marks the first time an Iranian official has traveled to Egypt after the 25 January revolution.

Boroujerdi, acting as special envoy for Iranian Speaker of Parliament Ali Larijani, will hold talks with Egyptian officials to invite them for a pro-Palestinian conference to take place in Tehran in October.

Boroujerdi is also scheduled to meet with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Araby and invite him to the conference.

The delegation accompanying Boroujerdi includes Mohammad Ismail Kowsari, deputy chairman under Boroujerdi.
