Twenty people have been killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza over the past 12 hours, according to information from Gaza’s hospitals, despite US President Donald Trump calling on Israel to immediately stop its bombardment.
The hospitals reported today that between 12 am to 12.45 p.m local time, 11 bodies were recorded at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City. Bodies were also recorded at Al-Shifa Hospital, Al-Awda Hospital and Nasser Hospital.
Israel continued its military campaign overnight into Saturday, despite Hamas and Israel both expressing willingness to pursue the first phase of Trump’s proposal.
More context: The Israel Defense Forces and Israeli Prime Minister’s office both stated today that they were preparing for the first stage of Trump’s proposal, which includes the release of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.
However, neither statement mentioned a halt to plans to occupy Gaza City, or Trump’s demand that Israel “immediately stop the bombing of Gaza.”
