Egyptian Actress Wafaa Amer revealed the details of her relationship with the late footballer Ibrahim Shika during her interview with the “Last Word” show on Sunday.
She explained that she was aware of his story and struggles from the beginning, as he himself recounted that he began playing football at the age of seven and played for several clubs.
However, he was never in the spotlight, receiving no more than LE500 for participating in school matches, and was even hired out to play in private schools.
Amer said: “I met Ibrahim Shika on October, and my conversation with him still exists. Groups of journalists talked to me on social media, telling me that there is a football player named Ibrahim Shika who has cancer, especially since he wasn’t registered with the Zamalek club.”
“I started a live chat with him and asked him to send me the papers. At first, God forgive me, I didn’t believe him because his hair was thick and I thought he wasn’t sick. But he sent me the medical papers, and I sent them to my relative in America. He told me that the disease he has is very aggressive. Nevertheless, Ibrahim had great hope of playing football again.”
“He had undergone two surgeries before I met him, and I was only present with him for the last gastric bypass operation. All of this is documented in audio and video, both on my chat and on cameras. I even saw the wound on his side. The first time I saw him face to face was on October 4 or 5.”
