Egypt has expressed its appreciation for the response issued by Hamas regarding US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Gaza war.
A statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that Hamas’s response lays the foundation for progress toward achieving aspirations for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
It explained that Hamas’ response showcases both the commitment of all Palestinian factions to see an end to the bloodshed in Gaza.
Egypt also reiterated its appreciation for US President Trump’s efforts and vision for achieving peace and stability in the region.
In particular, the statement praised his full commitment to ending the war in Gaza Strip, as well as his complete rejection of the annexation of the West Bank or the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land.
Egypt also hailed his announcement to launch a plan to rebuild Gaza Strip while allowing Palestinians to remain on their land and allowing those who wish to return to their homeland to return.
The statement said that this reflects Trump’s wise leadership and insightful, conscious vision for achieving peace and stability in the Middle East, and his commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.
Egypt also expressed hope that this positive development will lead all parties towards responsibly committing to implementing President Trump’s plan on the ground, ending the war, allowing humanitarian aid to flow through UN mechanisms without restrictions, and releasing all hostages.
This will establish a new phase towards peace, starting with negotiating the details and mechanisms necessary to implement President Trump’s vision on the ground, within a political framework leading to the two-state solution – the terms of reference of which the international community has agreed – thus bringing peace and prosperity to the region.
Egypt expressed its determination to exert the utmost effort, in coordination with all its Arab and Islamic partners, the US, the European Union, and the international community, to achieve a permanent ceasefire, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and rebuild the Gaza Strip.
