Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi affirmed the strategic importance of the bilateral relations between Egypt and Cyprus and their pivotal role in maintaining economic and energy stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The minister praised the progress in energy cooperation between the two countries during his meeting with the Cypriot Ambassador to Cairo, Polly Ioannou on Friday.
The joint project to connect Cypriot gas fields to Egyptian gas facilities is a top priority for both countries, he noted.
Badawi explained that this project is the best guarantee for delivering additional gas supplies to European markets with greater efficiency.
The ministry will provide all necessary technical and logistical support to its partners in Cyprus to expedite the project’s implementation, he said, in accordance with the directives of the political leadership.
Badawi emphasized that the shared utilization of Egyptian infrastructure will benefit both friendly nations and investors.
The ambassador expressed her gratitude and appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in the region, commending the constructive and fruitful cooperation in the energy and natural gas sectors.
