
The Egyptian Dar al-Ifta is organizing a large official and public celebration on Tuesday evening at the Grand Hall of the Al-Azhar Conference Center in Nasr City, to observe the crescent moon of the holy month of Ramadan for the Islamic year 1447 AH.
Dar al-Ifta announced that the Ramadan crescent observation ceremony for this year will take place at sunset on Tuesday, through seven religious and scientific committees across the governorates.
The program accompanying the announcement ceremony will includes religious and media events, in addition to the announcement of the winners of the Dawlat al-Telawa (State of Recitation) competition, in the presence of the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Nazir Ayyad, who will officially announce the sighting of the new moon.
Astronomical calculations indicate that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the last day of Shaban 1447, and that the first day of Ramadan, astronomically speaking, will be Thursday, February 19.
