Agriculture Ministry deputy survives assassination attempt in North Sinai

An Agriculture Ministry deputy on Wednesday survived an assassination attempt in North Sinai Governorate.

A medical source at Arish Public Hospital said that Mohamed Saad, the ministry deputy, arrived at the hospital in an unstable condition.

Saad was shot four times in different parts of his body, the source said, adding that he is undergoing surgery to remove the bullets.

Eyewitnesses said a masked and armed group stopped Saad’s car and shot him as he was heading to the agriculture department in Arish. The driver was not harmed.

A security source said the group escaped into Arish farmland while the driver took Saad to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
