Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa this week said that water scarcity did not represent "an urgent problem" for Egypt.
The water issue, he said, "can be resolved by way of diplomacy."
“However, the government can help by reducing water waste and employing recycling methods to purify water,” Moussa added, pointing to some Arab countries–such as Jordan, Palestine and Iraq–that currently suffer from serious water shortages.
“Israel helps itself to the Palestinians' water quota,” he said, “while Iraq has problems with Turkey over the sources of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.”
