Arab League source says Suleiman asked Moussa not to issue statements

An Arab League source said talks between Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa and Vice President Omar Suleiman were held at the presidential palace, hours after Moussa returned from protests in Tahrir Square Wednesday.

Moussa was summoned late on Wednesday to the Presidential Palace where Suleiman asked him not to give any statements in light of strong anti-regime protests.

The source said the two also discussed developments of the protests as well as methods of resolving the crisis and establishing dialogue with public figures to achieve a transition of power.

Moussa had already expressed readiness to accept any position that would help resolve Egypt’s crisis.

Moussa, 74, who is also a former foreign affairs minister, has been cited as a potential presidential candidate as has Suleiman, the former intelligence chief and now Mubarak’s second in command.
