Authorities imprison 22 over Mubarak trial clashes

Egypt's Public Prosecution has imprisoned 22 people who were arrested Monday over clashes that broke out at the Police Academy during former President Hosni Mubarak's trial.

Judicial sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that those arrested will remain in custody until the victims injured in the clashes give their testimonies.

The clashes left 25 people injured, 14 of whom were policemen.

The plantiffs' and the defendants' lawyers also clashed inside the courtroom and hurled shoes at each other.

Members of martyrs' families and their lawyers also burned a picture of Mubarak that a lawyer held up during the trial.

The former president faces trial for involvement in killing protesters during the revolution, among other charges.
