Bodies of Hungarian tourist bus victims to be given to embassy

The Hurghada local prosecution has ordered the bodies of 11 Hungarian tourists killed in a bus accident to be handed over to a representative of the Hungarian Embassy in Egypt after being medically examined. The tourists were killed Sunday evening in an accident that also left 21 injured.

Following the accident, a military plane carried four of the worst-injured tourists to Cairo for treatment.

Prosecutors have detained the bus driver pending an investigation into the accident. They are currently taking down accounts from the surviving tourists and their guide.

Traffic authorities have also been instructed to write a report on why the accident occurred. The Red Sea governor has formed a team comprised of police officers and the Hungarians' tour organizers to take stock of the victims' possessions to give to the embassy agent.

Ambulance services on Sunday received a report that a tourist bus had turned over at a curve on the ring road north of Hurghada. Nine of the 42 tourists on board were taken to the Nile and Gouna hospitals in Hurghada to be treated. Five others suffered no injuries.
