Bomb defused in Mohandiseen

Bomb experts reportedly defused a bomb on Thursday, which was placed inside a billboard on Mostafa Mahmoud Street in Mohandiseen, according to state TV website Egynews.

Giza security authorities received a tip about a strange object in the billboard after which experts headed immediately to the scene.

The bomb contained a quantity of nails, gunpowder, an explosive material and a mobile SIM card for remote deonation. The area was combed in search for other bombs.

Similar incidents have become common since the dispersal of Rabaa al-Adaweya and al-Nahda sit-ins in 2013 during which hundreds of toppled President Mohamed Morsy supporters were killed.
