Egypt and China conduct unprecedented air force training drill

The joint Egyptian-Chinese air force drill “Eagles of Civilization 2025” has commenced in Egypt, set to be conducted over several days at an Egyptian air base.

Multi-role fighter aircraft of various types will be participating in the training. The program includes theoretical and practical lectures to unify combat concepts between both sides, in addition to conducting joint air sorties.

This first of a kind drill is a historic step that strengthens military cooperation between the two countries.

The spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces said that the drill focuses on planning and managing air combat operations, in order to exchanging expertise and hone the skills of the participating forces.

The military spokesperson added that this drill comes within the Egyptian Armed Forces’ plan to strengthen military cooperation with China.

RT reported military sources as saying that the drill will feature the Chinese KJ-500 early warning aircraft for the first time in Egypt, alongside Y-20 transport aircraft, reflecting the technological advancements of the Chinese Air Force.

This drill builds on a history of military cooperation between both nations. Chinese J-10 and Y-20 aircraft previously participated in the Egypt International Air Show in 2024.

The “Eagles of Civilization 2025” will also serve to enhance mutual trust and explore future cooperation, including the possibility of cooperation in the field of air armament.

The exercise is particularly important in light of regional challenges facing Egypt, including tensions in the Red Sea and the Gaza crisis, with Egypt seeking to enhance its military capabilities through diverse partnerships.
