A court in Egypt has sentenced TikToker ‘Suzi al-Urduniyya’, real name Mariam Ayman, to one year in prison and a fine of LE100,000 after convicting her of publishing indecent videos across social media platforms.
In a separate ruling related to the same charges, the court sentenced fellow content creator ‘Otaka’ to six months in prison and a fine of LE one million following the spread of a scandalous video featuring him and blogger Hadeer Abdel Razek.
According to court documents, Suzi al-Urduniyya was convicted on multiple counts, including:
- Committing a publicly indecent act via live broadcast on the TikTok platform.
- Using offensive and derogatory language violating public morals.
- Assaulting family values and moral principles within Egyptian society.
- Publishing visual content with vulgar language, inconsistent with community ethics.
- These verdicts were based on official monitoring reports and security investigations.
- Asset freezing and money laundering allegations
Judicial sources revealed that banks have received an official circular from law enforcement agencies to execute a Cairo Criminal Court decision that mandates:
- Seizure of all funds and assets belonging to Suzi al-Urduniyya and her parents.
- Prohibition from disposing of any cash, real estate, or movable properties.
This action follows investigations that uncovered controversial possessions and assets, suspected of originating from illicit profits derived from her digital content.
Content creator ‘Otaka’ accused of illicit gain
Separately, the ministry of Interior accused ‘Otaka’—who had a previously documented criminal record—of exploiting his social media accounts to publish content offensive to societal values, achieve high viewership rates, and accumulate illegal financial gains.
The ministry added that the defendant subsequently attempted to launder the illegal money by purchasing real estate and vehicles to conceal the source of the funds and give them a veneer of legitimacy.
