Egypt launches Ramadan tourism campaign for Arabic markets

The Egyptian Tourism Authority launched a five-week campaign to promote Egypt as a tourist destination, entitled “Ramadan Fee Masr Gher” (Ramadan in Egypt is Different), to parts of the Arab world including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The launch of this campaign coincides with the holy month of Ramadan and the approaching Eid al-Fitr to attract more Arab tourists to visit the Egyptian tourist destination and enjoy the festive atmosphere there.

The CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, Amr al-Kady, that the purpose of this campaign aims to invest in Ramadan as a means of promoting tourism, in which Egypt has a competitive advantage, within the Arab market.

The promotional content of this campaign includes videos presented by Arab and Egyptian influencers, bloggers, and content makers, he said.

Kady added that these videos will be shared across social media platforms, in addition to the Shahid platform in the markets where the campaign was launched, in addition to the electronic reservation platform WEGO – one of the largest search and reservation engines in the Middle East.

The campaign aims to drive direct bookings at Egyptian tourist destinations during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr seasons in the Arab market, he said.

The Director General of the Tourism Promotion Department at the Authority, Suzan Mustafa, indicated that the authority is focusing on electronic campaigns, especially in light of increasing trends towards using the internet for search and reservations.

The campaign aims to advertise Egypt as the place to be to spend Ramadan, owing to its distinct and festive atmosphere during the holy month, she said.
