Egypt’s budget deficit widens to LE68.3 bn in July-Aug: ministry

Egypt’s overall budget deficit widened to 2.4 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) reaching LE 68.3 billion for July-August 2015, compared to 2.3 percent (LE 56 billion) during the same period last year, according to a report by the Finance Ministry.

Total revenues jumped from 34.5 percent to LE 46.3 billion (1.6 percent of GDP) during July-August 2015, compared to LE 34.4 billion (1.4 percent of GDP) during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, total expenditures increased from 22.9 percent to LE 110.4 billion (3.9 percent of GDP) during July-August 2015, compared to LE 89.9 billion (3.7 percent of GDP) during the same period last year.
