Egypt urges foreign media to be accurate regarding Damietta incident

Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) confirmed on Friday that it is continuously monitoring foreign media coverage of the Damietta port incident.

The SIS emphasized its commitment to maintaining constant communication with foreign correspondents and international media outlets to provide them with accurate and up-to-date information, based on official statements issued by relevant authorities, primarily the Egyptian government, regarding the circumstances of the incident and the ongoing investigations.

The authority urged media coverage to rely on officially accredited sources to ensure an accurate portrayal of the situation, especially given the international interest in following its developments.

The SIS noted that some foreign media outlets have published inaccurate information on the matter, emphasizing that investigations are still underway to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.

It urged media outlets, news agencies, and foreign correspondents in Egypt and abroad to uphold professional standards and ensure accuracy in their reporting, and to always obtain information related to Egyptian affairs such as the Damietta incident from official Egyptian sources.
