Egypt warns that displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip is a ‘red line’

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Saturday that Egypt will not allow any plans to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to be implemented, warning that this is a “red line.”

During a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, following talks in Cairo on Saturday, Abdelatty added that the latest developments in Gaza are very serious and cannot be ignored.

It concerns not only the Palestinian people and Gaza’s neighbors, but all of humanity, he said, emphasizing that “these crimes and their widespread nature cannot be tolerated.”

Regarding Israel’s plans to displace Palestinians, the Egyptian minister said, “We have repeatedly declared that this is a red line for us, for Jordan, and for the countries of the region, and we will not allow it to be implemented.”

Abdelatty slammed Israel’s plans as “miserable, desperate, and unacceptable”, noting the coordination of positions with Arab nations and within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to mobilize efforts to confront Israel’s “irresponsible actions, which reflect extremely dangerous perceptions that cannot be tolerated.”

He pointed out that Israel cannot be allowed to re-engineer the region, explaining that this matter will be raised at the Arab League ministerial meeting, in addition to being discussed with all regional parties.

“No party can be allowed to dominate, impose its will, or impose a re-engineering of the region. This is completely unacceptable,” he stressed.

He emphasized that any arrangements in the region must comply with the principles of international law, such as non-interference in the internal affairs of states and respect for sovereignty.
