Egyptian Senator Sherine Sabry proposed replacing the term “housewife” with “Generation Maker,” in the job title in the national ID, asserting that this change better reflects the true role of women within the family and society.
Sabry explained that a woman who dedicates herself to raising her children performs a vital task, no less important than any other job, and contributes to building generations capable of developing the nation, Youm7 reported on Sunday.
The term “housewife” is no longer appropriate given the current era and the unprecedented focus the country is placing on women’s empowerment, she noted.
She noted that the political leadership has given Egyptian women significant attention, granting them numerous rights and opportunities in various fields.
The MP emphasized that women who choose to dedicate themselves to raising their families also perform a role worthy of respect and appreciation.
She explained that bestowing the title “Generation Maker” upon women would boost the morale of Egyptian women and enhance their sense of the value of their vital role in shaping future generations.
Appreciating the role of the mother in raising children is a real investment in the future of society, Sabry added, and that changing the title represents a moral message that reflects the status of women who shape the course of future generations.
