Fire breaks out in Social Insurance building

The Ministry of Social Solidarity controlled a fire that broke out Thursday morning in the headquarters of the Social Insurance headquarters, on Alfy Street, in downtown Cairo, it said in a statement.

The Ministry said in the statement that civil protection forces succeeded in controlling the fire which broke out in the right-hand part of the seventh floor of the building and spread to the upper floors.

The fire resulted in minor injuries to 4 people, all as a result of a stampede that occurred while the building was being evacuated, according to the statement.

The data of insured citizens are fully protected, and there is no fear of any loss of data which are completely mechanized and protected through IT systems, the statement read; adding that the fire broke out away from the computers hall of the Authority.

Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said safety measures have been reviewed in the building after the fire.
