Following her release, Israeli hostage expresses gratitude to Hamas for ‘extraordinary humanity’

An Israeli hostage released on the first day of the temporary humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas has gone viral across social media on Friday after sending a message of gratitude to Hamas.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, published a copy of a letter of thanks that it claimed was written by one of the Israeli hostages released along with her daughter on the eve of Friday, the first day of the truce.

The hostage, named Danielle, began her message by thanking the fighters who accompanied her during her detention, saying: “To the generals who accompanied me in recent weeks, it seems that we will part tomorrow, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for the unnatural humanity that you showed towards my daughter Amelia. You were like parents to her. You invited her to your room at every opportunity she wanted.”

“She admits to feeling that you are all her friends,” she wrote, adding “Thank you, thank you, thank you for the many hours that you were like a nanny, thank you for being patient with her and showering her with sweets, fruits, and everything present even if it was not available.”

“Children should not be in captivity, but thanks to you and to other good people we met along the way, my daughter considered herself a queen in Gaza, and in general she admits to feeling like she is the center of the world,” she wrote.

Danielle continued: “I will forever be grateful, because she did not leave here with psychological trauma forever. I will remember your kind behavior that was granted despite the difficult situation that you were dealing with on yourselves and the difficult losses that befell you here in Gaza.”

She concluded her message by thanking them once again and wishing them good health, saying: “I wish that in this world we could be truly good friends. I wish you all health and well-being… health and love for you and the children of your families. Thank you very much”.

Ceasefire extends

As of Friday, a humanitarian truce was initiated between Israel and Hamas by an Egyptian, Qatari, and American mediation.

The truce was scheduled to last for four days, before it was extended for an additional two days.

According to the terms agreed upon in the truce, during the basic truce period of four days 50 Israeli hostages, women and children under the age of 19, will be released.

In return, for each one of them, three Palestinian women and children prisoners will be released from the Israeli side.

During the past three days of the basic truce, Hamas released 40 Israeli hostages, in addition to 18 foreign citizens from Thailand and the Philippines, along with an Israeli holding Russian citizenship.

In return, 117 Palestinian women and children were released from Israeli prisons.
