German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said in an interview that his country will not take part in a military operation against Syria.
In an interview with a German newspaper published on Saturday, Westerwelle said that "Germany was not asked" to take part in a strike, adding that the European economic powerhouse was not considering participation anyway.
Britain also withdrew from plans to attack Syria after its parliament voted against authorising military action in Syria.
