Giza Governorate intensifies effort to vaccinate and sterilize stray dogs

Giza Governor Adel Al-Nagar confirmed that the governorate is continuing its efforts, in collaboration with Cairo University, to implement a joint protocol aimed at vaccinating and sterilizing stray dogs.

This initiative is part of the state’s broader plan to achieve Sustainable Development 2030 and maintain public health and ecological balance.

The Governor indicated that veterinary teams are operating based on a fieldwork plan that includes preliminary monitoring of areas where stray dogs congregate. They identify specific cases targeted for vaccination or sterilization based on the results of medical examinations, ensuring the program is applied in a scientific and safe manner.

Nagar explained that the governorate gives this issue special attention due to its direct impact on citizen safety and the civilized appearance of the community.

He noted that the sterilization and vaccination efforts are conducted under the joint supervision of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Cairo University, with the participation of local NGOs concerned with animal welfare.
