Golio’s: A touch of Sicilian delight

On a calm street in Mohandessin stands a white contemporary villa with the logo Golio’s by the entrance. The restaurant opened its doors a month ago and welcomes more than a hundred clients each day.

The open air restaurant/café is spacious; it’s divided into separate lounges with white and grey couches, fuschia tables and painted wooden floors. Sunny in the morning and breezy at night, the restaurant has four TV screens well distributed around the dining area.

Golio’s capacity is 130 seats and receives clients from 10AM to 11PM. The couches and tables are well arranged but not terribly comfortable for eating. However, the food is impeccable and most of the ingredients, especially the tomato sauce, are imported from Sicily.

The pasta with tomato sauce is juicy, flavorsome and the portion is huge. The pané and pasta dish is huge and extremely filling.

The Pasts del Bosco is a thrilling food experience; the dish is creamy and oozes with flavor and surprise. The Pizza Regina is yummy and has plenty of oregano which adds flavor to the combo.

The Tonino crepe station occupies a corner inside Golio’s; the Nutella, galaxy and kinder chocolate crepes are light and crispy. Treat yourself to a crepe and you won’t regret it. Salty crepes are also available in the morning during breakfast time.

Heaven on earth for shisha lovers, Golio’s allows you to choose from a wide collection of shisha flavors.

“All the chefs were trained in Sicily and a quality control committee arrives to Egypt every three months to monitor the performance of the restaurant,” says Karim Diab, one of Golio’s owners.

Convivium, a Sicilian restaurant in France, will open a branch inside Golio’s soon. “The menu will be more sophisticated with Australian and Japanese beef,” adds Diab. Golio’s management will open more branches in Maadi and Heliopolis; “We’re now looking for good locations in those two areas,” stated the young owner.

The restaurant Bread Basket will open on the second floor of the villa and will offer an array of bagels and baked good, in addition to a kids’ corner that offers classes for children aged one to eight years.

Delivery is the next step for Golio’s, and a big launch party in mid April will host a saxophone player to entertain the crowd until midnight.

Golio’s offers a complete experience for food and shisha lovers. It is a place for family gatherings and a hangout for young crowds looking forward to good food and loads of fun. Golio’s is definitely a recommended restaurant and café.
