The Egyptian government has categorically denied recent reports circulating about counterfeit LE 50 banknotes lacking the hologram and the signature of the Central Bank governor.
In an official statement issued by the Cabinet’s Media Center on Tuesday, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) affirmed that all banknotes in circulation, across all denominations, are completely genuine and legal tender, RT reported.
The CBE emphasized the state’s commitment to guaranteeing the full value of these currencies for goods and services without any deductions.
The statement clarified that the relevant security and regulatory authorities are monitoring currency circulation around the clock and are responding immediately and decisively to any reports or attempts at counterfeiting.
The statement cautioned citizens against being misled by rumors and false information intended to create confusion and negatively impact the stability of the banking sector and the national economy, urging them to obtain news only from official sources.
