
A preliminary investigation into the fire at the kiosks near the Shubra al-Kheima metro station in Qalyubiya Governorate revealed that the blaze started in a koshary shop in the kiosk area and spread to nearby shops.
Civil Protection Forces in Qalyubiya successfully contained the fire, which left five people injured. They were transported to Nasser General Hospital in Shubra for treatment.
Security forces and firefighters are continuing to cool the area down to prevent a recurrence of the fire, and are currently investigating the cause behind the blaze.
Authorities in Qalyubiya has received a notification from the emergency operations center that a fire had broken out in a shop near the Shubra al-Kheima metro station and spread to several neighboring shops.
Nine fire engines were dispatched to the scene, where Civil Defense personnel were able to control the flames and prevent them from spreading.
A report was filed, and the relevant authorities are investigating.
As a precaution, metro services were suspended between the Kolleyyet al-Zeraa and Shubra al-Kheima stations on Line II only.
The fire in the surrounding area caused heavy smoke and obstructed vision in the area for drivers. This necessitated a halt in both directions for passenger safety.
The Metro Authority said that at 11:30 pm on Saturday, Shubra al-Kheima Metro station was reopened to passengers after the fire outside the station was fully contained.
