Israel has launched nearly 3,500 air strikes and over 400 bombing operations on Lebanon since the ceasefire began in April, Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Monday, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA).
“As for the total number of Israeli violations of the ceasefire, from April 17 to June 7, 2026, they amounted to 3,491 air raids,” Nawaf said, adding that there were 407 bombing operations and six bulldozing operations, which have left some villages entirely flattened.
CNN has reached out to the Israeli military for comment.
In total, 3,526 people were killed and 10,733 others wounded, he said.
A joint statement released after the latest round of US-mediated talks said that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to “the implementation of a ceasefire,” but it was contingent on “a complete cessation” of Hezbollah fire and removal of all Hezbollah operatives from southern Lebanon.
The agreement comes after the Israeli government threatened to escalate its actions in Lebanon – a move that threatens to derail the US-Iran talks. The ongoing ceasefire has seen repeated violations as Israel and Hezbollah have continued to trade strikes.
Nawaf met with US Ambassador to Beirut Michel Issa on Monday. The two officials discussed the “dangerous escalation in the region and its repercussions for Lebanon,” according to a Lebanese prime ministry post on X.
They also discussed preparations for the upcoming round of negotiations in Washington, with Nawaf stressing that “no one but the Lebanese state should negotiate on behalf of Lebanon.”
