Korean tourist attempts to swim to Israel from Egypt

Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Monday a strange incident involving a Korean tourist swimming from Sinai, Egypt, to Eilat, Israel, after previously being denied entry into the country.

The Hebrew website Mako reported that the Korean tourist attempted to swim to Eilat via Egypt.

Under the headline “We’ve never seen anything like this before,” the Hebrew channel’s report stated that the Korean tourist had attempted to enter Israel about a month ago but was denied entry.

The tourist arrived in Sinai this week and attempted to swim from the Egyptian city of Taba toward Eilat.

Maritime security forces arrested him and transferred him to the department of special judgments enforcement for foreigners.
