Egyptian actor and producer Hisham Gamal and his wife, actress Malak Zaher, beamed at red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival at the 79th edition of the world’s most prestigious film event, which kicked off on Tuesday evening, May 12, and is set to run until May 23.
The couple participated in a special photoshoot for a well-known magazine, during which they announced they are expecting their first child.
During the interview, Zaher spoke about her feelings towards the experience, saying: “From the first moment, I felt that my life began to take on a new meaning, and motherhood began with me before I even saw my child.”
This year’s Cannes Film Festival sees a major turnout of stars and filmmakers from around the globe, alongside members of the jury posing for commemorative photos before the opening ceremony.
The Cannes red carpet brings together the biggest names in film and entertainment each year, attracting widespread media and public attention in the accompanying events and world premieres of the participating films.

The festival opens its new edition with a screening of the French film “The Electric Kiss” by director Pierre Salvadori, continuing the tradition of selecting opening films with a distinctive artistic style.
