Malaysian tanker fined for oil spill

A Malaysian ship called African Lark has been fined for an oil spill it caused at the Alexandria Port Monday.

Mona Gamal al-Din, the head of the Environmental Affairs Agency in Alexandria, said a committee of central operations members was formed to clean up the spill and take samples. The surface area of the oil spill was estimated at 325 square meters.

The Alexandria Port Authority was asked to keep the Malaysian tanker until the required fines for environmental damage are paid.
