Egyptian Police arrest 83 people for violating curfew in Sohag

Egyptian Police on Wednesday arrested 83 people in the city of Sohag for violating curfew hours.

Police in Sohag took appropriate legal measures against the individuals, who were found walking and driving during the curfew.

Personal vehicles and means of shared transportation are not allowed on the Egypt’s roads during the hours of nine pm to six am, part of the preventive measures Egypt has taken to limit the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced in April a set of decisions regarding the country’s precautionary measures against coronavirus.

Citizens across the country are prohibited from traveling on any roads during curfew hours.

All restaurants and establishments that offer food service to the public are to remain closed to dine-in service, and are limited to home delivery service during operating hours.

Services provided to citizens by ministries and governorates, such as notary services, civil registry, traffic licenses, work permits and passports, are all suspended.

All sports and public clubs, youth centers and gyms remain closed nationwide.

Study at schools, institutes, kindergartens and universities, as well as any student gatherings in private lessons are prohibited.

Hospitals, medical centers and medical staff continued to provide services.

Post offices are also open, to disburse salaries and pensions.

Madbouly said that anyone who violates the provisions of the curfew decisions will be punished with imprisonment or a fine not exceeding LE4,000.
