Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered continuous monitoring for construction work on the Cairo Metro project, particularly regarding the first phase of fourth line (Line IV).
Official presidential spokesperson Mohamed al-Shenawy said that Sisi’s directive came during his inspection tour on Tuesday of the construction work at the Pyramids Station in Giza Governorate, part of the first phase of fourth Line.
Sisi emphasized the necessity of expediting the project’s completion while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety, and within the established schedule.
He stressed the importance of connecting densely populated areas to an environmentally friendly mass transit network.
The president began his tour by inspecting the tunnel boring machine.
He then listened to a briefing from the Chairman of the National Authority for Tunnels, Tarek al-Gowaily, about the fourth metro line project and the Pyramids station project – part of the first phase of the fourth line and scheduled to open in the first half of 2028.
Shenawy said that the president pressed the start button, signaling the resumption of drilling, and listened to a briefing from Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir regarding tunnel preparation phases.
