Public Prosecution summons officer over electoral fraud complicity

The Public Prosecution on Tuesday summoned an officer accused of disregarding electoral fraud in Sunday's parliamentary poll.

Head of Badrasheen Prosecution, Ahmed Mabrouk, was sought for testimony after Waleed al-Shafie, a member of the General Elections Committee in Badrasheen, brought charges of electoral fraud against him.

General Elections Committees supervise the electoral process in each of Egypt's 254 districts.

In his report to the Public Prosecution, al-Shafie said he apprehended a woman involved in a rigging incident. He then took her to Mabrouk, the report continues, who declined to document the incident.
