Russia and the West are on the verge of a direct military clash: Polyanskiy

Dmitry Polyanskiy, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), confirmed on Wednesday that Moscow has informed the organization’s member states that the current geopolitical situation places Russia and the West on the brink of a direct military confrontation.

Speaking in an interview with Russian media, Polyanskiy stated: “We are practically on the verge of entering a direct military confrontation, and the dividing line between them is blurred; thus, it will be difficult to determine whether we have entered an escalation phase or not. This is exactly what we warned Western nations about, and we reiterated this during the meeting [the OSCE conference].”

He further noted that Russia is fully aware that several European nations have permitted the use of their airspace for drones targeting Russian territory, adding: “We also know that some European countries are providing their airspace for the passage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) [targeting Russia].”
