Salah cedes MOTM award to teammate for his 500th appearance

Egypt international footballer and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah ceded his Man Of The Match award (MOTM) for the game against Bournemouth to his teammate James Milner, who marked 500 appearances in the Premier League with Saturday’s game.

Salah netted a hat-trick in the match against Bournemouth, which Liverpool won 4-0. Sky Sports named him as the man of the match.

“Hat-trick hero Salah gave up his man-of-the-match award to James Milner on the midfielder’s 500th Premier League appearance,” Sky Sports reported.

“I have to congratulate him for his amazing career. He deserves it today, and I hope we are going to win something this season together, but I will not take [this award],” Sky Sports quoted Salah as saying.

Salah didn’t return home empty-handed on Saturday, as he took the match ball after a clinical hat-trick against Bournemouth.

Milner made his 500th Premier League appearance in the match, the 13th player to reach this landmark and the second youngest to do so (32y 338d), behind only Gareth Barry (32y 219d), Sky Sports said.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp saluted Salah’s ‘exceptional’ finishing after the forward hit a hat-trick to inspire Liverpool to a resounding 4-0 win over AFC Bournemouth.

“What Mo did around his two goals in the second half was just exceptional. I don’t know at the moment a lot of players who would have scored these two goals,” he said in a statement to the Liverpool FC website.
