SMS donations to Long Live Egypt Fund reach LE2.1 mn since Wednesday: director

The SMS donations to the Long Live Egypt Fund following President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's Wednesday request has reached LE2.1 million, executive director of the Long Live Egypt Fund Mohamed Ashmawy told Youm7 on Friday.
 
In a speech he delivered on Wednesday, Sisi called on Egyptians to donate LE1 everyday to the fund.
 
The fund received about 420,000 SMS, adding to LE2.1 million donations in total, he added, pointing out that the price of the SMS is LE5.
 
The fund is currently looking into cooperation with Arab and foreign cell phone companies to allow donations from abroad, he added.
 
Sisi delivered a long speech on Wednesday at al-Galaa Theater in Cairo, where he launched the government's long-term sustainable development strategy "Egypt Vision 2030".
 
The Long Live Egypt Fund was launched in July 2014 under the supervision of Sisi, Al-Azhar grand sheikh, the pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the Central Bank of Egypt and the Central Auditing Organization, to support the strained Egyptian economy through donations.
