Thousand-plus soldiers to hunt down extremists in Sinai

The Egyptian army and police started a campaign on Monday to hunt down extremist Islamic groups in North Sinai.

Security sources said the army and the police have deployed 1500 soldiers, supported by tanks and armored vehicles, to comb the border cities of Rafah, Sheikh Zuwayed and Arish, as well as sections B and C of the peninsula.

They have also called on the tribal elders to urge potential terrorists not to engage in violent acts.
