Traffic accident in Upper Egypt leaves 4 dead, 23 injured

Four people were killed and 23 others were injured in a collision between a large truck, microbus and a taxi in the Sheikh Younis area, east of Qena city in Upper Egypt, local media outlets reported on Monday.

Authorities and 25 ambulances moved to the site of the accident. The police filed a case on the incident, and the Public Prosecution was notified to further investigate.

A statement from the Social Solidarity Ministry said that the accident occurred near Sidi Abdel-Rahim al-Qenai Mosque in Qena, on Monday evening.

The bodies and injured were transferred to Qena University Hospital.

Immediately after the accident occurred, Social Solidarity Minister Nevin al-Qabbaj ordered the Director of the Social Solidarity Directorate in Qena to quickly provide all immediate relief.

She emphasized intensifying all efforts to support the families of the victims and the injured, and directed the Egyptian Red Crescent team to be present at the site to provide care.

Qabbaj urged drivers to be careful about road safety, especially during winter when mists form on the roads.
