Trump responds to Iran’s apology towards its regional rivals

US President Donald Trump declared on Saturday that Iran is “surrendering” to its Middle East neighbors, claiming that a week of relentless US and Israeli military strikes has forced Tehran to abandon its regional aggression.

In a series of statements on Truth Social, the President characterized the current state of the Iranian regime as one of “unprecedented defeat,” warning that further military escalation is imminent if the regime does not fully collapse.

A shift in regional power dynamics

Trump noted how the Iranian leadership has issued apologies and formal assurances to neighboring Gulf states, promising to cease any and all hostile fire.

The US President attributed this diplomatic retreat solely to the impact of Operation Epic Fury, the joint US-Israeli campaign launched in late February.

“This promise was only made because of the relentless US and Israeli attack,” Trump stated, asserting that for the first time in millennia, Iran has been decisively humbled by its immediate neighbors.

He claimed that regional leaders have expressed their gratitude to the White House for shifting the balance of power, adding, “Iran is no longer the bully of the Middle East; it is the loser.”

Escalation warnings

Despite claims of Iran’s ‘retreat’, the President issued a grave warning regarding the next phase of the conflict.

He revealed that the US military is currently evaluating “new areas and groups of people” for targeting—entities previously excluded from the strike list.

“Today, Iran will be hit very hard,” Trump warned, citing “bad behavior” as the justification for expanding the scope of the war.

He described the potential for “certain death” and “complete destruction” for these new targets, suggesting the administration is prepared to pursue the total dismantling of the Iranian state unless an unconditional surrender is achieved.

Iran’s apology

The President’s rhetoric follows a week of intense volatility, which has seen the assassination of senior Iranian leaders and the systematic degradation of the country’s air defenses and naval capabilities.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a televised address on Saturday, offering an unprecedented apology to regional nations for Iran’s recent strikes – signaling a major shift in the country’s rules of military engagement.

Pezeshkian characterized the ongoing conflict with the US and Israel as a war “imposed on Tehran.”

He revealed that the Provisional Leadership Council, established following the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued new directives to the Iranian Armed Forces.

Acknowledging that disputes between nations are natural, Pezeshkian argued that such disagreements are “best addressed through dialogue.”

He reassured the Iranian public that the government, people, and military stand as a “single front” dedicated to defending Iranian soil and waters “with all our strength.”
