Court upholds prison sentences for police officer, informants for torturing prisoners to death

The Court of Cassation has upheld a three-year imprisonment sentence for a police officer and a one-year sentence for 14 informants and a doctor, as well as a fine of LE500 for another doctor, all charged with torture and forgery.

The officer had ordered prisoners Saeed Kamel and Karim Abdel Tawab to be chained up and have boiling water poured on them, causing their deaths. He also forged a death certificate from the doctors without examining their bodies.
