Egyptian historian travels to Jerusalem for exhibition

Egyptian historian Maged Farag has flown to Israel for the opening of an art exhibition on North African Jews, held by the Worldwide North Africa Jewish Heritage Center and sponsored by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The Israeli Radio said Farag is meeting with intellectuals and academics in various parts of Israel.

“I hope my visit ushers in a new phase in Israeli-Egyptian relations,” Farag said.

Invitation cards indicate Farag is inaugurating the exhibition on Tuesday May 5, while Levana Zamir, head of the Association of Egyptian Jews in Israel, is delivering the opening speech.

Apart from being a historian, Farag was the official spokesperson for King Ahmed Fouad II. He is also a supporter of the “Liberal Royalists” youth movement that called for reinstating the monarchy in Egypt after the January 25 revolution.

He has published two books, the “Royal Albums of Egypt” that documents pictures of the royal family in 10 volumes, as well as "Misr Al-Mahrousa", which documents the history of Egypt in the modern era.
