Ministers from Egypt and Sudan are inaugurating on Wednesday the new Qostul-Ashkit land port between the two countries, which is expected to increase bilateral trade from LE5.5 billion to LE7 billion in one year.

Gamal Hegazy, chairman of the Land Ports Authority, said Transportation Minister Hany Dahy, Minister of Industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour and an official delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry are inaugurating the port from the Egyptian side, while four Sudanese ministers are inaugurating it from their side.

Dahy said the port is an important Egyptian Portal to Africa that will benefit trade and investment, adding that its free zone would enhance exports and imports of goods and livestock, as well as the movement of passengers between the two parts of the Nile Valley.

“We have a comprehensive plan to modernize land ports according to international standards so as to help the flow of traffic and ensure security and comfort for passengers,” he said.
